The Easter Fayre on 24 March 2007 was opened by the Mayor of Milton Keynes. There were lots of games and activities (face painting, crafts etc) for the younger ones, whilst adults had plenty of ways of contributing to Pre-school funds including various stalls, a raffle and a silent auction. Refreshments were available, with the Milton Keynes Salvation Army Band on hand to provide music. Almost £1000 was raised. Read the Thank you message from Paula.
The Mayor's opening speech: "I am very pleased to be here at Sherington Pre-school’s Easter Fair today, and to see so many children, parents and friends here to enjoy and support the event."
"Sherington Pre-school has been an important part of this community for 35 years. It was formed in 1972 as Sherington Playgroup by local parents who wanted a sociable and interesting experience for their pre-school children. Learning through play was the focus then, as it is now, but much has changed. In those days no-one could even imagine universal nursery education funding and OFSTED inspections. Committee members and staff have worked hard over the years to adapt to changing regulations and parental expectations. Their reward is a thriving pre-school that remains at the centre of the community and continues to offer children a happy and stimulating start to their education."
"Sherington Pre-school begins its 35th year by celebrating an extremely successful OFSTED inspection. The quality and standards of nursery education are judged to be outstanding, and everyone involved should be gratified by such a positive report on their work. I know that 35th anniversary events will continue throughout the year, and I am delighted to start the celebrations by declaring this Easter Fair open."
