MK Dons Training Ground

  • On 7 February 2017, Milton Keynes Council Cabinet voted to approve a proposal to offer land they own to MK Dons Football Club for a new Training Ground. The land is situated adjacent to Sherington's southern boundary. It is part of the Parish of Chicheley at Tickford Fields. The site lies between the A509 (Newport Pagnell bypass) and the river. The land to the south of this site is allocated in the Newport Pagnell Neighbourhood Plan for a new housing development of more than 1000 homes. The entrance to the new training facility would be where the A509 layby currently is.
  • The proposal is for 19 pitches of various sizes. 14 would be for MK Dons use, with 5 as a community facility. Some of the pitches would have a 3G artificial surface and some would be floodlit. There would also be changing rooms and parking.
  • Details of the proposals are available in the documents associated with the Cabinet meeting agenda on the MKC CMIS web site:
  • This development will mean that the removal of the last rural buffer between Sherington and the main MK development area. The south part of the Parish will therefore become the frontline for protection of the rural area.
  • It is understood that MKC has dropped its immediate threats of major development centred on Sherington in Plan:MK, although they are still proposing some development east of the M1 in the Moulsoe area. Another public consultation for Plan:MK is planned in the Spring of 2017.
