Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on Tuesday 7th May 2013 in Sherington Village Hall, Church Road, Sherington commencing at 7.00pm

PRESENT: Cllr David Keene (Chairman of Sherington Parish Council)

ATTENDING: Wendy Austyn (Clerk), Cllr Keith McLean (councillor for Sherington Ward) and 6 public

1. APOLOGIES
None.

2. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
The minutes of the Annual Parish meeting held on 1st May 2012 were agreed as a true record and signed by the Chairman.

3. SUMMARY OF CHAIRMANS REPORT*

Council makeup - Adrian Green left the Council and Ian Collinge joined bringing valuable IT skills. Alec Denman has been lending his practical electrical experience to great effect.

Continuing rural issues - The council continues to look for and consider solutions to typical village issues such as speeding, inconsiderate parking, lack of parking spaces, potholes, dog fouling and flooding.

Trees - When a tornado swept through the village in October 2012 emergency remedial works to trees were carried out. This has been followed by a full survey of trees on land that the parish council is responsible for.

Ward Boundaries - the outcome of the Boundary Commission's consultation is still awaited.

Jubilee Beacon - the bonfire on 4th June 2012 to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee was enjoyed by many.

Village Shop - the shop is well embedded in the village, renewal of consent to build a permanent shop will now be sought. Thanks to Mel Northfield and Nigel Blight for chairing the Shopco committee.

New village furniture and equipment - new benches and fitness equipment have been installed at the recreation ground. The family of the late Peter Cook have donated a fine oak bench to the village, sited opposite Manor Farm. Thanks also to Tony Pilcher for sprucing up the noticeboards.

2011 Census - analysis of the data showed that the village is aging considerably.

Thank you to all the parish councillors and the clerk for their hard work and support.

4. FINANCIAL REPORT

The clerk reported the following figures:

5. PUBLIC QUESTIONS:
